In the book of Job God states His grand design upon the world. He tells about its foundations, its creatures, and how He made it all to operate. He left nothing to chance. Everything was made a certain way for a certain purpose.
The bear, lion, the hawk, raven, the goat, donkey, the ox. They cry out to God, and He feeds them. Simple.
I was not made this way. Though I was created to cry out to Him for all things, I was also made in His image, given dominion over everything that moves on the earth. I was made to walk with Him and to talk with Him. In essence, to dwell with Him.
God’s great favor on me revealed my heart, and I sinned against Him. Dominion over the earth was not nearly enough. I wanted His throne and sought to have it. Not unlike many of the Old Testament sons who killed the king to reigned in his place.
Because of the hardness of my heart against my Creator, I became like an ostrich.
The wings of the ostrich wave proudly, but are her wings and pinions like the kindly stork’s? For she leaves her eggs on the ground, and warms them in the dust;
she forgets that a foot may crush them, or that a wild beast may break them.
She treats her young harshly, as though they were not hers; her labor is in vain, without concern, because God deprived her of wisdom, and did not endow her with understanding. When she lifts herself on high, she scorns the horse and its rider.
Because of the Creators great love and mercy He came to rescue me from my sinful nature. In His justice, He took the penalty of my rejection of Him as King. In His mercy, He forgave me. In His love, He transforms me.
He has come to do an even greater work through His Son, in that He has chosen to take up residence in my redeemed soul by the power of His Holy Spirit.
The Lord God Almighty created me a certain way for a certain purpose. That I would no longer be an ostrich, but a daughter to the Father of all.
